The matchup for Super Bowl 57 is set, and just two teams remain after the weekend began with a slate of four teams.
These four teams, the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers truly were the top four teams in the NFL: winning consistently in the regular season, and willing their way to the Conference Championship round.
Ranking these four squads is basically splitting hairs, but as I’ve done every week since the 2022-23 NFL season began, I’ll count down all the teams that played last weekend.
Read on for my Post-Conference Championship Power Rankings, and if you’d like to debate or discuss any rankings, or want to follow for more weekly NFL content including Picks and Power Rankings, be sure to connect with Sak Sports Blog on Twitter or on Facebook!
Post-Conference Championship Power Rankings
- Philadelphia Eagles (16-3) [Last Week: 3]
- Some people think I’ve been tough on the Philadelphia Eagles this season, and I almost didn’t give them the #1 spot this week. But the fact of the matter is, Philadelphia is a well-oiled machine, a 16-1 behemoth when Jalen Hurts takes the field this season. The Eagles defense was paramount in a 31-7 over the 49ers to advance to Super Bowl 57.
- Kansas City Chiefs (16-3) [Last Week: 1]
- The Kansas City Chiefs lose their grip on my top spot after sweating it out 23-20 against the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. A win is a win, but the Eagles are hotter on paper right now with back-to-back dominant wins. But Cincinnati is a great team, and snapping a personal three-game losing streak against the AFC North squad was an important step for Patrick Mahomes.
- Cincinnati Bengals (14-5) [Last Week: 2]
- The Cincinnati Bengals were a couple plays, a couple calls, and at least four points away from reaching back-to-back Super Bowls. Cincinnati has a great team and finished the season red-hot with a deep playoff run. Joe Burrow and the Bengals will be back, as one of the most feared contenders to win the AFC next season.
- San Francisco 49ers (15-5) [Last Week: 4]
- After rattling off 10 straight wins, the San Francisco 49ers season came to a screeching halt with a 31-7 loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. But already down to their third-string quarterback, San Francisco’s hopes dwindled further when upstart rookie quarterback Brock Purdy was injured in this game. What’s even worse, it may be a long-term injury: further complicating the quarterback position that supports one of the most talented rosters in football.
