After a disappointing and injury-riddled start to his NFL career with the New York Giants, second-year wide receiver Kadarius Toney is making an immediate impact with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Following a fake hand-off from Patrick Mahomes, Toney swung out right towards the sideline, caught a wide-open pass, and comically hopped in to the end zone on one foot to put the Chiefs up 7-0 in the first quarter.
Toney was drafted 20th overall out of Florida in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, with the franchise hoping to find their next star pass-catcher a few years after the Odell Beckham Jr.-era.
Toney struggled to stay on the field in New York, appearing in just ten games in his rookie campaign and two this year for the Giants. The 23-year-old receiver was traded to the Chiefs in exchange for third and seventh round 2023 draft picks on October 27.
In New York, Toney totaled 432 yards on 43 catches with no scores. Now, in his second game with the Chiefs, Toney has his first professional touchdown under his belt.
Playing in Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes’ offense, it’s fair to say that as long he stays healthy, it won’t be his last.
