There’s just one week remaining in the 2022-23 NFL regular season, and there’s a new team at the top of my Power Rankings.
At 13-1, the Philadelphia Eagles looked unstoppable. But an injury to Jalen Hurts resulted in two straight losses for the NFC’s front-runner since Week 1. This opens up the door for the San Francisco 49ers (who narrowly escaped with an overtime win over Jarett Stidham and the Las Vegas Raiders) to potentially steal the conference’s top seed, which includes a first-round bye.
In the AFC, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs had to sweat it out against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos, but emerged victorious to pace the conference standings at 13-3.
Of course, the biggest game of the week, Monday Night Football’s AFC clash between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, has been postponed indefinitely following the tragic sequence of events that struck Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Hamlin’s safety, as well as the physical and mental health of all players, coaches, and staff for Cincinnati and Buffalo, is of the utmost importance, and the game should not and most likely will not be completed in the near future. The Bills and Bengals still have the potential to move in these rankings, but will be judged only on their performances through the first 16 weeks of the season.

It may have been an ugly win against a bad team, but Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs still got it done, improving to 13-3, tied for the best record in the NFL.
