The two-year Russell Wilson era ended for the Denver Broncos earlier this off-season, with the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback being released and signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Broncos traded for New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson earlier this week, adding the former second overall pick to a quarterback room with Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci.

Obviously, the Broncos needed to continue searching at the quarterback position, and building through the draft gives prospects at a brighter future.

The Broncos didn’t enter the draft with the necessary capital to go after Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or Drake Maye, putting them in the market for more of a Michael Pennix Jr., J.J. McCarthy, or Bo Nix. Many fans specifically wanted McCarthy, seeming him as a great guy for head coach Sean Payton.

But with the Atlanta Falcons shocking the NFL by taking Micheal Pennix Jr. and the Minnesota Vikings trading up a spot to take J.J. McCarthy, the Broncos were left at the 12th overall pick with the chance to select the 6th quarterback in the Top 12, opt for another position, or trade back.

Seeing how quickly quarterbacks were flying off the board, Denver selected Bo Nix out of Oregon with the 12th overall pick.

The Broncos will now head in to 2024 training camp with a career backup/spot starter in Jarrett Stidham, a reclamation project with starting experience in Zach Wilson, and a developable prospect in Bo Nix.
