NFL Conference Championship Sunday is in the books, narrowing the field from four to two teams, ready to compete in Super Bowl 58 in two weeks time.

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens put on a masterful regular season, one that was among the best we’ve seen in the last five years or so. But when it mattered most, even at home in Baltimore, the Ravens offense disappeared in a 17-10 loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs had a subpar regular season by their own superb standards, but the defending Super Bowl champions are heating up at the right time, punching their ticket to Super Bowl 58.

On the other side, they’ll see a familiar face: the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers, like the Ravens, also enjoyed a dominant regular season, earning the top seed in the NFC as well as a first round bye. But San Francisco hasn’t been quite as dominant in the postseason: needing second half comebacks in order to knock off the Green Bay Packers and most recently, the Detroit Lions. Essentially, the 49ers might not be firing on all cylinders right now: making the fact they’re at least the second-best team in the NFL even more impressive.

All four teams that participated in NFL Championship Sunday are elite, and none of them would have felt out of place as Super Bowl participants. But only two teams remain: Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs, and Brock Purdy’s San Francisco 49ers. Which team is better overall, right now?
