After speculation that the New York Giants would either trade up or use the sixth overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft to select a quarterback, the team went a different direction.

With quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., and offensive tackle Joe Alt off the board, the Giants used their 2024 first round selection on wide receiver Malik Nabers out of LSU.

Nabers is a compete package at the wide receiver position, coming from the same LSU program that gave the Giants Odell Beckham Jr. once upon a time.

The Giants reportedly probed the New England Patriots about trading up for the third overall pick, presumable for Drake Maye, but New England stood pat.

While New York has made it obvious that they don’t see Daniel Jones as the definitive solution at quarterback, whoever is throwing passes for the Giants in 2024-25 will have the Giants first true WR1 at their disposal in years.
