Week 4 of the 2025-26 NFL season is in the books, and almost everything we thought we knew has been turned on its head.

A whopping six teams from last week’s Top 10 in my Power Rankings lost (or tied) in Week 4, and they weren’t all playing each other.

After last week’s shocking last-minute loss to the winless Cleveland Browns, the Green Bay Packers couldn’t put away the Dallas Cowboys (who are now rising in stature) but Dallas couldn’t put Green Bay away either: resulting in the NFL’s first tie of the season.

The Washington Commanders looked just fine with Marcus Mariota at quarterback last week, and Michael Penix Jr. and the Atlanta Falcons looked horrible in a shutout loss at the hands of the Carolina Panthers last week. But Atlanta bounced back with a 34-27 win to improve to 2-2.

Speaking of Carolina, the Panthers followed up last week’s blowout win with a blowout loss to Drake Maye and the New England Patriots, who prevailed 42-18 in Foxborough.

Then, a slew of undefeated teams fell. Starting rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart for the first time, the winless New York Giants overcame the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium. The Philadelphia Eagles prevailed in another close one, beating the 3-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 in Tampa Bay to improve to 4-0. The Indianapolis Colts couldn’t manufacture a game-winning drive against the Los Angeles Rams, resulting in their first loss of the season. Brock Purdy and the injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers lost at home to Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Just a few teams have been consistently great through four weeks: the aforementioned 4-0 Eagles, the 4-0 Bills, the 3-1 Rams, and 3-1 Buccaneers (the latter two teams lost one-score games to Philadelphia for their only loss of the season.) The 3-1 Detroit Lions are a good team but got smacked in Week 1, the 3-1 Chargers have a one-score loss on their record but to the Giants, and the Colts should slot right into this mix as well, with just a single one-score loss to a strong Rams team.

The 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars, 3-1 Seattle Seahawks, 3-1 Pittsburgh Steelers, and 3-1 San Francisco 49ers could also be teams to watch this season.

Please note, that some teams rose a spot despite a loss and others might have fell a spot despite a win: we’re looking at entire bodies of work here, and peer results matter too.

Biggest Winners

The Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks all rose four spots with their Week 4 wins.

Biggest Losers

Holy cow, I don’t think I’ve ever dropped a team as quickly as I did with the Cincinnati Bengals. I gave the Bengals a slight benefit of the doubt after their 48-10 loss to the Vikings in Week 3 in their first game sans Joe Burrow, but after a 28-3 loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, it’s hard to find anything redeeming about this team: Cincinnati falls 16 spots from #16 to #32.

Other losers include the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders, falling seven and six spots, respectively.
