Week 10 brought plenty of interesting and shocking results, as well as trend-affirming ones that showed certain teams aren’t just lucky, they’re good.
The highlight of the week had to be C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans outdueling Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, 30-27 on the road in an instant classic. Houston enters the Top 10 for the first time this season, and can really start putting pressure on the Jacksonville Jaguars for the AFC South lead.
That’s in part because the Jaguars dropped the ball in Week 10, losing 34-3 at home to a locked, loaded, and healthy San Francisco 49ers team. The win made the 49ers three-game losing streak, hampered by injury concerns, seem like a fluke.
In another upset that shook up both my Power Rankings and a divisional race, the Cleveland Browns escaped with a 33-31 win over Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens after scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter. For the first time in the Deshaun Watson era, the Browns are looking like a consistent threat.
In a trend-affirming win, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are pretty darn good. Sure, the defense could clamp down, but it’s still all smiles in Detroit after a 41-38 win over the Los Angeles Chargers to improve to 7-2.
