2025 NBA Trade Deadline season has already been absolutely nuts, headlined by the Dallas Mavericks’ shocking trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. […]
With All-Stars apparently not off the table, the struggling Phoenix Suns may be looking for a new identity: one that doesn’t involve former NBA MVP Kevin Durant.
There were high expectations for Durant’s tenure in Phoenix, paired alongside Devin Booker, and at different times, Chris Paul and Bradley Beal.
But with both sides potentially looking for a new chapter, Durant has publicly been on the trade block. Reports indicate he is not hoping for a Golden State reunion, but one team has emerged as a potential suitor: the Miami Heat.
Whether or not such a a trade would kill two birds with one stone and end the Jimmy Butler saga in Miami is yet to be seen, as it could be a different trade completely, even if the Heat do ultimately part ways with Butler. Miami has championship pieces in place, and Durant could plug in to Butler’s old role as the primary scorer and facilitator.
According to reports, first reported by independent media outlet Five Reasons Sports and substantiated by Brian Windhorst on ESPN, the situation may be at the point where Durant will either stay in Phoenix, or be shipped to Miami, with limited to no other options appearing to be reasonable.
Can Durant reignite his career with his first Eastern Conference team? Can the Phoenix Suns salvage their team and still compete for championships with Devin Booker?
