In some ways, the herd is thinning: the NFL only has six teams left with two losses, holding either an 8-2 or 7-2 record.

Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, and the Indianapolis Colts are still my team to beat, with an impressive resume of wins and an NFL-high +115 point differential. The Colts needed overtime to overcome the Atlanta Falcons in Germany in Week 10, but still took care of business to keep the pace as the NFL’s best team.

After that, the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams are both looking great after improving to 7-2. Both teams are riding four-game win streaks, only lose to quality opponents, and are within a couple points of each other in terms of differential. These two NFC West powerhouses face each other for the first time this season in Week 11.

The Philadelphia Eagles also improved to 7-2, albeit with an ugly 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers. Defensive battles are okay and Green Bay’s defense is strong, but Jalen Hurts and the Eagles still seem just a step shy from last year’s Super Bowl team. But hey, being ranked fourth in the NFL while not playing up to your full potential? Plenty of teams are in worse situations.

Rounding out the two-loss teams, Drake Maye’s 8-2 New England Patriots and Bo Nix’s 8-2 Denver Broncos just keep winning. Sure, there are complaints about these teams having soft schedules, but all you can do is beat the teams in front of you. Both the Broncos and Patriots are on red-hot seven-game winning streaks.

But thinking the contenders stop there would be foolish: there is a tier of teams bubbling up right underneath. Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers are 7-3 after handling the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. The Detroit Lions are 6-3 following a 44-22 road win over the Washington Commanders. Baker Mayfield and the 6-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a narrow loss to the Patriots in Week 10, but have consistently gone toe-to-toe with the league’s best teams.

And for the 6-3 Buffalo Bills and 5-4 Kansas City Chiefs to be “struggling”, yet still right in the mix, should probably scare teams come playoff time.
