The University of Colorado and University of Wyoming met in Week 4 of the 2025 NCAA Football season, renewing a historic regional rivalry under the Saturday night lights of Folsom Field during Family Weekend.

Colorado entered the game as 13.5-point favorites, and while Wyoming posed a slight threat late in the fourth quarter, down just ten points, the game was in Colorado’s control pretty much the entire time.

Starting quarterback Kaidon Salter was 18-for-28 for 304 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns, and added 86 yards and a touchdown on the ground on 11 carries.

It was the first meeting between the two schools, separated by less than 100 miles, since 2009.

But the two schools have met 27 times overall, dating back to November 5, 1900. Colorado is 25-2-1 all-time with the victory, including a 19-2-1 record in Boulder.

Colorado won their 2009 matchup in Boulder with Wyoming 24-0, and their 1997 matchup (also at Folsom Field) 20-19, in the closest game in the series. Colorado also won a home game in 1991, and Wyoming topped Colorado 24-10 in 1982 for their most recent victory in the series.

Head coach Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes entered the matchup with a 1-2 record, but walked out with a 2-2 overall record after their final non-conference game of the season. Colorado is already 0-1 in Big 12 Conference play, thanks to last week’s loss to Houston on the road. Colorado hosts BYU next week, in another late Saturday night game.

Saturday night also marked the return of Ralphie, Colorado football’s fabled mascot. After Ralphie VI retired just before the 2025 season began (with an “indifference to running” cited), Ralphie VII completed her training and ran for the first time in front of a roaring Folsom Field crowd shortly before the 8:25 PM MT kickoff.
