NFL 2024: Conference Championship Game Picks

The football games just keep getting better, but there’s less of them each week. We’re down to our final four teams as we head in to Conference Championship Game weekend, with a trip to Super Bowl 59 on the line.

Three of the four teams participating in Sunday’s games are “supposed to be here”: they’re either the #1 or #2 seed in the conference, and a pure chalk bracket would have taken them here. That’s the #1-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC, the #2-seeded Buffalo Bills in the AFC, and the #2-seeded Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC.

The wildcard of the bunch is the 6th-seeded Washington Commanders, with Jayden Daniels and company hoping to pull off their third straight playoff road upset en route to an unlikely Super Bowl appearance with their rookie quarterback.

At stake for the other three teams? Well, Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Kansas City Chiefs are vying for their third straight Super Bowl win, cementing their all-time great status. But Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, on the cusp of greatness as they always are, pose a formidable threat as they take on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles are hoping for redemption from two seasons ago, when Jalen Hurts led a nearly perfect offensive effort against the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 but lost as Mahomes and the Chiefs simply had the ball last.

NFC Championship

#6 Washington Commanders (14-7) at #2 Philadelphia Eagles (16-3)

Line: Eagles by 6.0 points

Regular Season Meetings: Washington and Philadelphia split their regular season series 1-1. with the Eagles winning 26-18 in Philadelphia and the Commanders winning 36-33 in Washington.

Prediction: Eagles win 26-23

AFC Championship

#2 Buffalo Bills (15-4) at #1 Kansas City Chiefs (16-2)

Line: Chiefs by 2.0 points

Regular Season Meeting: Buffalo handed the 9-0 Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season in Buffalo: it was the Chiefs only loss with Patrick Mahomes as their starter all season long.

Prediction: Chiefs win 27-24
