While these Power Rankings are a little late to get out, and may even seem self-explanatory with only two teams remaining in the playoff field, they need to be published ahead of Super Bowl 60 nonetheless.
The main takeaway as I rank these four remaining teams is that the NFC West housed the two best teams in the NFL this season: the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. Anything could happen in Super Bowl 60, but Sam Darnold vs. Matthew Stafford for the third time this season in the NFC Championship Game may just have been the NFL Championship. These two juggernauts both would have represented the NFC as the favorite in Super Bowl 60 no matter the opponent, and therefore, I’m ranking them #1 and #2.
Drake Maye and the New England Patriots may have something to say about that, and the Patriots have the chance to put their money where their mouth is with a Super Bowl 60 win over the Seahawks.
The Denver Broncos had an incredible season sputter at the worst possible time, between Bo Nix’s ankle injury in the Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills and the debilitating snow in the second half of the AFC Championship Game. On paper, a healthy Broncos team would rank above the Patriots, and probably would have beat them, but hindsight is 20/20 and these Power Rankings are based on the real results of the Broncos 10-7 loss with Jarrett Stidham at quarterback.
If you’ve been paying attention, the four-team order has already been revealed, but anyways, here’s the penultimate Sakmann Sports Power Rankings, as I’ll do one more after the Super Bowl with all 32 teams back in the mix.
