Week 8 of the 2024-25 NFL season produced some interesting results with all 32 teams in action. At the season’s rough halfway point, the NFL’s hierarchy is still in flux as I rank every team each week.

One thing is for certain right now: the Kansas City Chiefs are still the best team in the NFL, after improving to 7-0 with a 27-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Minnesota Vikings, who started 5-0 with Kansas City and even ranked #1 at times this season, has officially started to stumble, with back-to-back losses. This week, Sam Darnold and the Vikings couldn’t find enough points against a finally healthy Los Angeles Rams receiving corps, losing 30-20 to Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and company.

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens suffered a surprising loss to Jameis Winston and the Cleveland Browns, but still have a good enough body of work over the course of the season for me to rank them just ahead of the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills: who all sit at 6-2, opposed to Baltimore’s 5-3 record.

Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers also improved to 6-2 with a Monday Night Football win over Daniel Jones and the New York Giants. Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders also claimed a 6-2 record, defeating the Chicago Bears on a last-second, Hail Mary touchdown.

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles also made a statement with a 37-17 win against the Cincinnati Bengals, who fall to 3-5 and remain winless at home on the season. The Eagles improve to 5-2, earning their third-straight win after a so-so 2-2 start.

Other teams on the rise include the Arizona Cardinals (evening their record at 4-4 with a 28-27 win that spoiled Tua Tagovailoa’s return for the Miami Dolphins,) and the Denver Broncos (handling Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers for their fifth win in six weeks.)
