The results of the second week of the NFL season are often more head-scratching and narrative-changing than those of Week 1, even after the lengthy off-season.

For example, the Detroit Lions outlasted the Los Angeles Rams 26-20 in overtime in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football: introducing the two teams to the 2024-25 NFL season very much where we last saw them in the 2024 NFL Playoffs. But in Week 2? The Lions were defeated 20-16 by Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Rams turned in a 41-10 loss to Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.

After scoring just 10 points in Week 1, Gardner Minshew and the Las Vegas Raiders defeated Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens 26-23 in Baltimore.

Derek Carr, Alvin Kamara, and the New Orleans Saints have been perhaps the biggest surprise of the season so far: scoring on each of their first 14 possessions to start the year, and blew out the Dallas Cowboys 44-19 in Week 2.

Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings are also an upstart 2-0, looking good on both sides of the ball through two weeks and upsetting the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 at home in Week 2.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans all improved to 2-0 as well, taking the top spots in this week’s Power Rankings.
