And then there was one.

The 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs and 5-0 Minnesota Vikings were both in action in Week 7 after having bye weeks in Week 6. Sam Darnold and the Vikings looked like they were going to win for much of Sunday afternoon, but Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions roared back for a 31-29 win to even both NFC North teams’ records at 5-1.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, on the other hand, just keep finding ways to win, even on the road and even with Mahomes throwing picks. Kansas City rolled to a 28-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers (in a Super Bowl 58 rematch,) improving to 6-0.

To make matters worse for the rest of the league, the Chiefs then went and acquired former Pro Bowl wide receiver Deandre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans.

Elsewhere, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers earned a gutsy 24-22 win over C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans on a last-second field goal, evening both those teams records at 5-2.

On Monday Night Football, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens put on another masterclass, beating Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 41-31 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score suggests. The Washington Commanders also impressed, improving to 5-2 with a 40-7 win over the Carolina Panthers despite Jayden Daniels going down early. Marcus Mariota looked just fine in his relief: maybe this Washington team really has something.
